October: Sons of Norway Foundation Celebrates 60 Years — and October Brings New Opportunities

Greetings from your Sons of Norway District 2 Foundation Director!

For 60 years, the Sons of Norway Foundation has helped strengthen our Nordic community through scholarships, grants, cultural programs, educational opportunities and assistance to members in need. Its mission remains focused on celebrating Nordic culture and heritage while investing in our members and communities.

This anniversary year gives every lodge and member two important ways to participate.

Celebrate 60 Years with $60 for 60!
In honor of the Foundation’s 60th anniversary, members are invited to participate in the $60 for 60 Campaign by making a $60 gift. These gifts help make the Foundation's scholarships, grants and community programs possible.

Grant & Scholarship Applications Open October 1!
October also marks the opening of the Foundation's next application cycle. Grant and scholarship applications open October 1. Grants can help lodges strengthen programming, preserve Norwegian culture and heritage, engage their communities, and even support lodge vitality. Scholarship opportunities support students pursuing undergraduate, graduate, technical, vocational and educational experiences in Norway.

The Foundation's current grant information confirms that the grant application season runs October 1 through December 15 (with Helping Hands to Members available year-round), while Foundation scholarship materials indicate scholarship applications open annually on October 1.

October is a good time to take action: consider a $60 for 60 anniversary gift, encourage a student to explore available scholarships, or identify a project your lodge could strengthen with a Foundation grant.
